Pu-erh tea is made of large-leaf tea variety, which is very strong when it's new. Aged Pu-erh tea is better in flavor and tastes smooth without any irritant feeling, which is healthy for gastrointestinal tract. This “Mijin” Tuocha is high quality raw Pu-erh tea, using arbor Maocha (sundried large-leaf tea) as raw material. All tea leaves are picked from big tea trees on high mountains of over 1500 meters altitude in Menghai county, Yunnan province, China. How to easily break the compressed Tuocha?
1) Take off the wrapping paper of the Tuocha.
2) Steam the Tuocha for 3 - 5 minutes.
3) Before the Tuocha completely cool down. Use a Pu-erh Knife (if you haven’t, just use a flat screw driver) and insert it into the edge of the Tuocha to help you break a chunk of tea. Now you may remove the loose chunk from the Tuocha with your hands.
4) Dry the tea leaves or chunks naturally in a ventilation place for a few days. Store the loose tea leaves or chunks in dry and clean place with good ventilation (please inspect the tea often, make sure it is dry to avoid moldy).
How to prepare compressed Pu-erh tea in a Congou style?
Step 1: Pry 3-5g tea off with Pu-erh Knife and add tea leaves to a Gaiwan.
Step 2: Pour boiling water into the Gaiwan, give the tea leaves a rinse for 10 seconds. Then draining the water out, leaving only the soaked tea leaves.
Step 3: Fill the Gaiwan with boiling water again, cover the lid. After steeping 10 seconds (shorter or longer according to your desired strength), the tea can be poured into a tea pitcher to be served.
Step 4: repeat Step 3 for several times. Gradually increase steeping time for subsequent brewing.
How to store Pu-erh properly?
To store Pu-erh tea properly, put it in a dry place with good ventilation. Never store Pu-erh tea air-tight or put in the moisture or close to goods with peculiar smell.
